Immediate Care (First 24 Hours)
- Do not wash your hair: — Keep your scalp completely dry for at least 24 hours so the microchannels can close safely.
- Do not apply any other products: — Avoid Minoxidil, hair oils, styling products, or dry shampoo.
- Avoid touching your scalp: — Keep your hands off your head to prevent transferring bacteria from your fingers into the open microchannels.
- Keep it clean: — Sleep on a fresh, clean pillowcase the night of your treatment.
- Limit heat: — Minimize heat styling (like blow dryers and straighteners) during the first week.
Days 2 to 3 (48–72 Hours)
- First wash guidelines: — When you wash your hair for the first time, use only lukewarm water and a very gentle, sulfate-free shampoo. Do not scrub; lightly massage with your fingertips.
- Skip the gym: — Avoid heavy workouts, hot yoga, saunas, and steam rooms. Sweating can introduce bacteria and cause severe irritation.
- Protect from the sun: — Avoid direct sunlight on your scalp. If you go outside, wear a clean, loosely fitted hat that does not rub against the treated area.
- Expect mild side effects: — It is completely normal for your scalp to feel tight, sunburned, itchy, or to see mild flaking and redness. Do not scratch or pick at it.
Week 1 and Beyond
- Hold off on active topicals: — Wait 3 to 5 days before restarting regular topical hair growth treatments like Minoxidil or prescription scalp solutions, unless your provider gave different timelines.
- Avoid harsh chemicals: — Do not color, bleach, or get a chemical treatment (like a perm or keratin treatment) on your hair for at least 7 to 10 days until the scalp is fully healed
