Post-Treatment Care

Photofacial (IPL)

Thank you for choosing ROXSpa for your IPL Photofacial treatment! To ensure optimal healing and long-lasting results, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully.

Immediately After Treatment

  • Mild redness and warmth are normal — This typically subsides within a few hours but may last up to 24 hours.
  • Darkening of sunspots and pigmentation — Treated areas may darken before flaking off in 5-7 days.
  • Use a cold compress if needed — Apply gently for 10-minute intervals to reduce swelling.
  • Keep skin hydrated — Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer as needed.

First 24-48 Hours

  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, or strenuous exercise — Heat can cause irritation.
  • No makeup or harsh skincare products — Stick to a gentle cleanser and hydrating products.
  • Do not pick or scratch treated areas — Let darkened spots flake off naturally.
  • Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily — Your skin is highly sensitive to sunlight.

Days 3-7: Healing & Shedding Phase

  • Expect mild flaking or crusting — This is a normal part of the process as pigmentation lifts.
  • Keep moisturizing — Apply a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer to soothe the skin.
  • No exfoliating or active ingredients — Avoid retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and scrubs until fully healed.
  • Wear SPF daily — Sun exposure can reverse results and cause hyperpigmentation.

After One Week & Beyond

  • You may resume active skincare — Gradually reintroduce vitamin C, retinoids, and exfoliants.
  • Maintain results with medical-grade skincare — Your esthetician can recommend brightening and anti-aging products.
  • Follow-up treatments may be needed — A series of 3-5 sessions is typically recommended for optimal skin rejuvenation.
