SKINVIVE™ by Juvéderm®
Newport Beach

What is SKINVIVE and how is it different from a filler?
SKINVIVE™ by Juvéderm® is an FDA-approved intradermal injection of modified hyaluronic acid, placed as a series of microdroplets just beneath the surface of the skin to improve the smoothness of the cheeks in adults over 21. It is not a dermal filler and is not intended to add volume or change facial contour — the hyaluronic acid works within the skin itself rather than beneath it, so the change is to skin quality and texture rather than to shape.
SKINVIVE™ by Juvéderm® is an intradermal microdroplet injection of modified hyaluronic acid, FDA-approved to improve the smoothness of the cheeks in adults over the age of 21.
How It Works
Hyaluronic acid is a substance the skin already contains, and it holds water. Rather than being placed deep to restore volume the way a dermal filler is, SKINVIVE™ is delivered as a series of tiny microdroplets within the skin itself. The treatment is a short in-office appointment, and it is performed by an injector who has assessed your skin first.
Who It's For
SKINVIVE™ is for people whose concern is the quality and smoothness of the skin across the cheeks rather than lost volume or changed contour. If what you want is more projection in the cheek or correction of a fold, a dermal filler is a different treatment and the right consultation will say so.
What to Expect
Because the treatment addresses skin quality rather than shape, there is no immediate contour change to assess afterwards; the difference develops over the following weeks. The effect is not permanent and is maintained with repeat treatment. Temporary injection-site reactions — redness, swelling, tenderness, small bumps — are possible, and your injector will go through the full risks and aftercare with you before you decide.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Dermal fillers are placed deeper to restore or add volume and change contour. SKINVIVE™ is injected as microdroplets within the skin to improve smoothness, and is not intended to change the shape of the face.
It is FDA-approved to improve the smoothness of the cheeks in adults over the age of 21. Your injector will confirm at consultation whether it suits what you are trying to achieve.
The change is to skin quality rather than volume, so it is gradual rather than immediate — unlike a filler, there is no instant contour change to look at in the mirror afterwards.
It is not permanent and is repeated to maintain the effect. Retreatment intervals depend on the individual, and your injector will set an appropriate schedule with you rather than applying a fixed one.
As with any injectable, temporary injection-site reactions such as redness, swelling, tenderness or small bumps are possible. Your injector will review the full risks, aftercare and whether you are a suitable candidate at your consultation.
